This peeling gel is very gentle. It uses cellulose as the exfoliating element, which starts to ball up on the skin and softly lifts away dead skin cells. If you’re expecting anything scratchy or abrasive, this isn’t it. I think the mix of different types of hyaluronic acid and squalane leaves a light film on the skin after rinsing.
I use it in the morning to wash my face—it’s quick and doesn’t require a long massage, since the cellulose rolls off easily. It doesn’t interfere with The Ordinary serums I apply afterward. There’s no squeaky-clean feeling or big “wow” effect, but as a gentle daily cleansing step, it deserves a spot on the shelf.
I’ve also tried it on my legs, especially after shaving, and it feels really nice—moisturizing and leaves them smooth. This might help anyone working through what feels like an endless supply (the gel is very economical and you get a lot). I took off a star for being *too* gentle—I expected a bit more from a peel.
